Admin Batch Giving: Multiple Name Prompts

Under Admin Batch Giving when we type in someone's name it sometimes brings up multiple versions of the same person (or household). The only way we have found to deal with that is find entries in which misspelled or other name versions were used, delete those entries, and re-enter them under one, correct name. Can there be a way to clean up those name prompts?
