Carbon Copy (cc or bcc) in email
Jim Bleakley
Add a cc or bcc option to any emails sent from the system so that senders can notify themselves or others of sent emails. This would be helpful in our context so I can follow up with someone through email, with the established email chain intact. Right now, I have no record in my email account of the email sent to visitors (for instance).

cc parent's email in youth comms

Hi,
We have had a parent ask to be cc'd in all emails sent to their children until they are 18. This feature would allow scheduling emails sent to children/youth serving to have the option to cc a parent/guardian so they also are in the same email chain. (same function found in regular gmail emailing). It would not be the same as just adding a parent's email address as the contact email for the child or adding them as an extra volunteer on the same day just so they both receive the scheduling email. Perhaps the option to add multiple emails for the one person/account can solve this problem?
Hope that makes sense,
Thanks

Yes! Yes! Yes! Need to be able to copy others on an email sent through the contact feature.

I also agree with the posts made so far in how valuable something like this would be. It would be extremely helpful for things like communicating with children where we need to have transparency with the parents/guardians about what we are discussing with their kids (especially after the Royal Commission and all the recommended changes about interactions with children). Also for communication with volunteers where a ministry leader may need to be cc'd into an email so they can be kept abreast of the information their teams are receiving.
I can understand the spam filtering issue. But surely there has to be an alternate work around.

Agree! Can this be done in a way that works with groups? So that when you add an individual under the age of 18, the parent is also automatically added instead of having to add them separately?

I agree this would be very helpful to be able to select which field you wish to email to - when we email youth we need to contact parents, currently we record parent emails in an emergency contact field as youth have emails now too! and then we cannot send an email to the emergency contacts (parents). We currently have to export the emails and send them outside Elvanto which then means we don't have a clear record of what we communicate to parents.

This would be very helpful. I have youth volunteers and need to be able to contact both the volunteers and the parents for scheduling notifications.

I think this relates: I have a custom field "Mother's Email" for our infant through 5th graders and when I go to contact it doesn't recognize there is email. I don't want to put this email in the standard email field as I don't want them to accidentally receive other emails. Wish there was a way in settings or when you go to "contact" where the email is pulled from.

This would be especially great if we could link (via a special field) the parent/guardian/carer for the purpose of this CC. I have requested elsewhere for us to be able to have at least three "linkable" people as emergency contacts - for our children and youth. At present we have three sets of fields (name and number) to at least note this, but they aren't linked, so when the emergency contact changes their number, this isn't automatically updated.
If this were to be done in a similar way, as a special "CC Contact/Parent" kind of field then that would be great. We have people categories; Adult, Youth, Child (basically). For a child, the mobile and email are set the same (and labelled/described to be clear) as the primary parent/guardian/carer. But NOT actually linked, so when a parent changes details, we often don't know and if there are a number of children, they would then be all incorrect.
It would be great if we could link these so if the parent's details change, theirs change - but in context with Tiffany's request, so we could in this case specify for a child "these emails go effectively to the parent about the child" and don't need to be CC.
In the case of Youth, we set the mobile/email to that of the primary parent UNLESS the parent has explicitly given consent for church to contact the youth directly - in which case, we enter the youth's own details. But this isn't linkable/unlinkable and we have to have instructions on any forms the youth (or their parents) fill out, to know that if they have given consent, then use their child's own details.
Again, in context with this request, we would still be able to enable the "CC Contact/Parent" should they request so, or by default, so they can see what we are sending the kids.

A very needed inclusion for sometime.

Here's our workaround. The office often wants to send one common email to several individual people, not in a group, and sometimes a copy to self. Don't use the contact button from a persons profile, use the check box from a people view. Select any random name at all if you like, then click Contact | Selected people only. The email panel now allows you to add or delete as many recipient names as you like.
(Of course this only works if the user has admin access to People!)
