We have a number of spouses in our congregation who don't attend the church so they are categorized as "Inactive". When they are categorized as "Inactive" they no longer appear in the member directory, however, there are circumstances when it would be useful to have them visible in the directory e.g. when someone needs to visit the member's home they'd like to know who all they're going to visit/meet, or if there was a need to contact the family in an emergency it would be useful to have visibility of the spouse. Any other categorization other than "Inactive" results in the individual being part of the payment plan, when in fact they are not actually active in the church.
