Meeting agenda, Events with roster function

I have been using services more widely than for church services. I have also been using it for meeting agendas. It is quite helpful, as having a service type acts a meeting template. It is great to keep time for items on the agenda. It is also wonderful to roster a team on - i.e. Parish Council for the meeting. It would be helpful to separate and create a meeting section in the admin area, very similar to Services, but private for people involved, or with particular access rights - for instance, a group etc.
Additionally, we have started using Services for programs we run during the week, i.e. youth group, playgroup. Originally, these we had as events but events don’t have a check-in option and so we have opted for services. it would be great if there was something that combined services functions with events. Events that could have people rostered on and attendees check in.

Thank you for your feedback. Our team has reviewed this request and determined that it will not be on the Elvanto roadmap in the near future as it does not align with our current product goals.

I wrote a request suggesting to merge events and services, which would include this request. Feel free to vote here: https://tithely.canny.io/chms-feature-requests/p/merge-events-and-services

I like the suggestion of combining the functionality of events and services as it would solve one of my frustrations - having to check the event to see if someone has indicated they will or will not be able to attend. It would be great to be get an email when someone accepts or declines the invitation - as we do with service volunteers. Being able to set automatic reminders (as we can with services) would also be very helpful. Being able to do all this without losing the group & event functionality, reports etc would be awesome.
Thanks for the services workaround ideas John - will definitely being using that for now.

Maybe a new category, ie. COMMITTEEs, that combined the ability to schedule individual meetings (which showed up on the calendar), Agendas, Notes, ToDo lists with assigned persons and due-dates....

@PastorPeter yep that sounds good

+1 to this request. It would be nice to have a separate category for the business meetings of the church. The ability to make them either public or private (e.g. for members' meetings vs executive meetings) would be helpful.

+1 for the second idea! We were also thinking of some possibility combining at least a service and an event. Often, there is a special event, e.g. a seminar, where we need the event functionality to enable registration. But we need rostering of volunteers too, which leads then to have two "events" (an event and a service) for that one occasion.

David Graber: Thats exactly what we are looking for as well! I don't really get, why events and services are so strictly separated. Why is there not just one are with all of the functions combined? We have the case very often that we need registration but also a plan. Or we have a service but need to book assets. So we have to create services AND events for the same thing, which is quite complicated. The best thing would be to merge both - services and events. It would have bring a lot of advantages without disadvantages (from my point of view).

Totally makes sense. On our setup we have groups set up for church leadership, small groups etc. Would be great if when you are assigned to an event within a group that it would show up on your roster schedule. That way when you subscribe to your roster calendar these events will be included as well. So basically another section of services that could be added to groups to make them more functional.
