needs list
complete

Would like to see the CHMS have a "needs list" like CCB. It allows us to post needs and people in the church to sign up for those needs. For example we need 10 people to volunteer to buy canned goods for a food drive, we make the list, it emails the church the need, people log in and sign up. We use this all the time and would like to switch to your CHMS if we could do it here.

Firstly - thanks you for implementing this feature - it can certainly simplify administration of this in our church. At the moment we use a combination of Google sheets, emails and work groups set up in ChMS but this has the potential to bring it all together.
In your release notes you asked "Is there anything else we need to do?"/ Yes its quite limiting at present.
Q1. "Can an Admin assign needs etc."
We have many people who I want to convert from a group to a needs list, but it will take forever to contact them and chase up, many of whom are not computer users, but do open emails. So as a Superadmin at least I should be able to subscribe users on their behalf.
Q2. "Can multiple members be assigned to a need?"
YES, 90% of our needs require more than one person, so it needs to ask for [n] slots, a bit like Service Volunteers does. Run a BBQ, Working bee, garden care, Help someone to shift house, Help with a community cookup. All these come to mind, but the current config won't cater for any of these use cases.
Reporting would be nice as well, but this takes second priority to the 2 above which are really preventing us from using this feature to its intended potential.
Thanks for your efforts so far.

John Roscoe: Hi John,
Thanks for the feedback!
Can you please leave individual requests for any further improvement you'd like to see though, not just as comments on this post?
As the feature in general is now complete, improvements will be tracked separately.
Cheers!

I wanted to mark this as complete yesterday but figured I better wait until today.
This has been completed though and will be live in the next few hours. This post has more information!

Care Calendar

In the light of COVID there is a higher demand for helping hands: Buy groceries for elderly / quarantined people, irganite child care for parents where school ha been closed, give a ride to/from medical appoutments etc. I'd like to suggest a separate calendar where these needs and the volunteers can be matched. I know that is a big task, but it would be a big help for those organizig the needas and the volunteers. There are services like "Lotsa Helping Hands", but there you need to have a separate member directory that needs to ne maintained.

Given the amount of people that have asked for this through support recently I'm surprised there's only one voter on here... interesting.
In any case we've started working on this.

Stewart Polley: There is my "care calendar" enquiry that could be merged.

Hey Ralf,
Just so I can be a bit clearer for planning here.
If you're have notes that are scheduled for people to complete, we already have a "People Notes" calendar available in the admin area.
Would this suffice at all?

Stewart Polley: Scheduling visits and tasks would still need to be done manually from looking at reports based on a very large number of note categories. Wouldnt improve efficiency.
Stewart Polley
Kylee Forrester: Yes, the reports will still be needed. A calendar won't really take away the need for that.
But once the visits are scheduled, assuming you've used the People Notes, they'll appear on the People Notes calendar already.
What I'm trying to ascertain here, is what will a new calendar offer that we aren't already offering?

I would 100% use this for our pastoral care ministry anyway. Great idea. Currently managing care visits and care needs in a separate program which is a lot of doubling up with Elvanto notes etc.
