Preventing people from being rostered if their Working With Children Check card has expired

I know for us in QLD Australia the laws have changed this year and no person can volunteer in any capacity in our church now without a Valid/Current WWCC. It would be handy to be able to have a feature that church's can enable (if they need), where the volunteer checkbox is able to be linked to a custom field like you would do an advanced search. If "custom field" equals "valid WWCC" enable checkbox. We do the reports and emails already, however because of the law changes we need a hard solution built in, not just a soft solution of reports and emails that get missed and potentially not followed up.

Could an easier feature be that the Super Admins are sent an email once the WWCC has expired? Or an auto monthly report with expired WWCC?
Stewart Polley
Joey Green: You can already set up a report for that :)
We'd still like to look into this at some point in the future though as it would help make things easier for everyone

Merged in a post:
Custom Macro Functions

IF CRITERIA THEN DO SOMETHING
Not much more needs to be said. For example, in relation to this:
In that case, if WWCC is expired (date etc) THEN untick the Volunteer box.
There could be so many different applications for this.
What would be great is we could apply special Macro buttons to people or people categories. But that's fetching pretty far.

Hey Benjamin,
For now I'm going to merge this with the other post, simply as I'd love to see more specific use cases for this.
We'd rather have specific functions in mind for this, to help make it easier to setup.

In our case, there are about 10 custom fields where certain criteria need to be met, in order for a person to volunteer with kids:- a Pennslyvania State criminal background check needs to have a date less than 5 years old- a Pennslyvania State child abuse history check needs to have a date less than 5 years old- I have a custom field (radio button) that needs to be checked 'neither of the above clearances have shown any results that would prevent the volunteer from working with children- I have another custom field (radio button) that asks if the person has completed the required state training. It must be checked 'yes'- there are other conditions that must be met. For example, I have a radio button that asks if the person has lived in Pennsylvania for the past 10 consecutive years. If 'yes' is selected, that is good. If 'no', then they have to have a federal FBI fingerprint background check.- also several other custom fields that must be filled in, in a certain wayIf all of these conditions are met, then the person can volunteer with children (some of the above are required by PA law, and some are required by our church's specific policy). But as you can see from at least some of the above fields, Pennsylvania law is quite complicated for children/youth volunteers. So for Graeme Dunkley's suggestion to work in our context, I would have to be able to several conditions (i.e. "If this field is checked 'yes', and this other field has a date less than 5 years'... etc, etc.). AND... Elvanto would need to create multiple levels of 'Volunteer'. For example, if a person doesn't meet the above requirements, I wouldn't want that person to volunteer in the Nursery. BUT... that shouldn't stop them from volunteering in our Sound Booth.

In the name of transparency, I've just used my admin powers for a minor edit to the title - changing "car" to "card"... last I checked people weren't issued a car to say they're allowed to work with Kids.

I agree in part.
However, those who volunteer to do gardening for example wouldn't necessarily need a WWCC so you wouldn't want them to not be able to volunteer because they done have one.Perhaps it would be more important to have roles with a checkbox of whether it requires a WWCC.
Stewart Polley
You're entirely correct Michael - and as David has said, different areas have different requirements. It gets super-complicated pretty quickly to build this to be flexible enough to meet everyone's needs.
Definitely a good idea!
