PRINT MEMO LINE IN BATCHES!!!
T
Tyler Rasmussen
For the love of all things beautiful and holy - what is the point of a memo line if it doesn't show up in the reports?
Financial => Batches => Click on a Batch
Expected Results:
Any transaction that has a memo shows the memo, or there's a checkbox I can click to show memos.
Actual Results:
No memos appear.
Financial => Batches => Click on a Batch => Click Print
Expected Results:
Any transaction that has a memo shows the memo so that when we print this batch for our records, it clearly lists any memos.
Actual Results:
No memos appear.
(let's add "check number" to this as well as something clearly missing)
WHY?!? Why is this still a thing in 2025?
Below "account / subaccount" should be memo, if there is one.
Colon after check then the check number ("Check: 1108") if there is one.
Doesn't expand the width of the table or effect the layout in anyway. Simple. Easy. DO IT.
This is simple. The code is really simple. This would be easy to implement. It would take a developer 20 minutes top to add it to both the web version and the PDF print version. PLEASE ADD THIS!!!
Even in Financial => Transactions - there's no way to show a memo field. At least in Tithe.ly Giving 2.0 there's a way to display a memo field! But not Elvanto. And it's our Sunday check and envelope offerings that are entered into Elvanto that tend to have memos attached to them. But how do we find them?
And no, we can't use the batch report (where you can add the memo field). Why? Because unlike "Financial => Batches => Click on a Batch => Click Print", the "Batch Report" only shows us a list of transactions and not both the list of transactions and the totals (I mean, technically if I group by account and then check the columns of memo, method, check number, and batch name, a report comes out with all the same information plus the memo field, but in comparison to the printed version of "Financial => Batches => Click on a Batch => Click Print", the "Batch Report" is horrible and difficult to read - especially because "Batch Report" separates up subdivided checks so it would be impossible to verify the deposit at the bank against the report - so no, ultimately "Batch Report" fails so horribly to be unusable as well, even though it shows memo).
I requested this in 2020 (feedback/p/memo-line). It was closed without response. Someone else requested this in 2019 (feedback/p/add-memo-column-to-batch-view). It was also closed without response. Grr... And again with lots of votes (feedback/p/more-functionality-in-financial-transaction-list). This is frustrating.
Why is something so simple to implement and so important for valid reconciliations at a nonprofit so completely broken and "not on Elvanto's roadmap"???
IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME, PLEASE GIVE ME 20 MINUTES IN YOUR CODEBASE AND I'LL ADD IT MYSELF. IT SERIOUSLY SHOULDN'T TAKE MORE TIME THAN THAT. I'm a webmaster in a former life. This request is basically add an if-then statement, copy-paste a few lines, insert a <br>, and change the requested database fields. That's it. But it's been "off your roadmap" for the past few years. PUT 20 MINUTES ON YOUR ROADMAP!
Thank you.
