Temporarily inherit permissions as another user for user permissions debugging
Jimmy Van
As a super admin, it is sometimes challenging figuring out why one of my users cannot see something (or on occassion, why they can see something, when they shouldn't). I think most people have a "Testy McTestface" user, or some dud user which they can assign and remove permissions to and from, but some setting is always missed -> particular demographic, or location, or group.
Ideally, some temporary permission inheritance feature would be great.
Facebook has one:
sudo on Linux would be another example.
I'd envisage the feature only being available for super admins, as there's a whole bunch of other sensitivities to be considered if there were administrators who could see their own notes and they're not supposed to, etc.

Yes, would be great masquerading rather than having to change access levels on my normal user account to narrow down permission issues.

This has become more of an issue for me trying to troubleshoot users who are not able to perform a task or don't even know what they are missing. We cant do face-to-face training with contact restrictions in place and this will be a problem for some time in the future. I agree with the OP request to limit this to the Superadmin only, to allow them to them login as another user by bypassing their password - maybe a system "unlock" password only available to Superadmins.
Can we please have an update on how likely this is to be actioned?

Are there any news on this?

Ralf Eichler: Hi there.
Thanks for reaching out!
When we have news we will update the task accordingly.
Cheers!

Great idea! I'm loosing track of my "dummy/test" accounts. ;)

This is often implanted in systems as a “Login as ....” feature. Obviously access to this function is restricted by its own security permission.

Absolutely would be a great feature. For troubleshooting access etc... It is too difficult to manage this with a dummy user.

As worded by David Brandt,
Ability for Admin to Log in as if they were another user (without knowing their password)
it would be nice if an admin could log in to Elvanto as someone else, without knowing their password. This way the admin could test out certain access permissions for different individuals.

Actually ignore that. This request is older. I'm closing the other one.

Great request, however there is one thing that we won't be able to get around - some areas of Elvanto are restricted by a specific person. I encountered this morning preparing to train a volunteer.
I will raise a request soon for some areas to be restricted to a person or to an Access Permission. For example, administration of a Flow, or access to a Report. If it were possible to abstract these to an access permission, this would open up - or close down - some options nicely. Switching for testing would be easier.
