weekly group meeting changes and category contacting

Just trying to utilise groups better.
we have weekly meeting groups that we would love to change meeting details from week to week or even location.
i feel the benefit of groups is void if we end up having to create individual events as a go around for a lack of feature where the group cant be allocated to it as 'their event'.
I also had to find a round about way for holidays by reporting ahead of time that we 'didnt meet on that date' in order to have it not show up on the calendar.
Frustrating that we cant change location or details for individual occurrences of a weekly meeting.
Not sure if i have overlooked, but it would also be beneficial to assign people in their profile to the category ie "mens ministry" and then create events or groups from there.
That way a group of people can be contacted ie "mens ministry" and not just "mens prayer" even if they arent yet part of a particular group but they are part of a demographic.
