Merge duplicate donors

It would be great to have the ability to merge donors so that if a husband gave by text, but they normal give by check with both husband and wife name on the check, it could be considered one giving unit. We also have an issue with people who have their given name on checks, but might give at other times using the name they go by. As it stands right now, I'll be getting at least 3 separate giving statements at the end of the year unless I manually combine them into one.

Thanks for your patience on this one! We're hard at work rebuilding features and adding new ones to make this a great platform for you fantastic people!
Recently we introduced a new People product. You can find this under Giving>Reports>People. Here you'll be able to merge duplicates by clicking the 3 layer icon in the upper right corner. The system automatically detects people with the same first and last name as duplicates and lets you choose which one to keep as the primary.
Merging duplicates will have no affect on donor accounts. They'll still be able to give without having to change anything they're currently doing. It also won't have any impact on the legacy feature "Manage Contacts" or the "Giving Statements".
As part of our rebuild, we built a new Tax Statements feature that will take advantage of the merged duplicates feature. You can find the new Tax Statements feature under Giving>Reports>Tax Statements.

Yes Yes Yes! We just switched over to tithley last year and most of our people didn't leave email addresses so I was entering manually. Then covid hit and most of them signed up with their email. During this year end tax season, it's duplicating all these donors.

I am waiting on this feature as well. It would make more since to have givings posted based on an identifier such as a member id or giving number, etc. Anything other than using names or email addresses since some people don't have an email address and also we run into issues where a person's son could have the same name as the parent. So how do you remedy that? Please provide a fix for this simple feature. Take a look at how Servant Keeper or other CHMS perform this operation.

I am a new ChMS user and still figuring out what is best fit for integrating Giving and ChMS. I think it would work better to sync on transaction than on deposit, and to allow everything to be put into Giving and sync to ChMS.
However it is easy to create duplicate contacts (e.g. Robert Smith vs Bob Smith), and then the only recourse is to re-enter each transaction and delete the old ones. Please prioritize this feature to allow merging contacts.

The option to merge duplicate donor accounts is urgently needed... without this being fixed we may need to consider another giving product for our church. Donors that give multiple ways (credit card, check, name variations, etc) all show up as seperate donors and create a mess for tax receipting, reporting and other functions. A way to merge these donor records is a must. Please fix!
