Adam Barry Would this also allow for Quickbooks intervention, since they’re basically the same under the hood? I mean, I know QB has tons more features, but the registry, reports, etc are basically the same.
Thank you.
Adam Barry
Myke Harbuck: I'm not quite understanding the question. If you are referring to Quickbooks Desktop, this integration would most likely not be able to adjusted to work with the desktop version.

Adam Barry: Sorry. I meant to say "Quicken integration." Got sloppy there. lol
Would this also allow for QUIKEN INTEGRATION, since they’re basically the same under the hood? I mean, I know QB has tons more features, but the registry, reports, etc in QUICKEN are basically the same.
Adam Barry
Myke Harbuck: Just looking into this, Quicken does not have an API, so an integration would not be possible. Also, looking into this further, an export might not be possible either as their import format is very specialized.

An integration with Quickbooks Online is currently in progress.

Adam Barry: that’s great to hear! Sadly their Nonprofit edition is desktop only. Is there also a plan to provide import or export with quickbooks?
For us, all our cash and checks are entered via Quickbooks and an RDC check scanner that integrates with it and is supported by our bank.

John Pleasnick: Agreed - we use desktop. Only integration or import needed is for deposits, all our donor accounting is in Servant Keeper.

Adam Barry: Yep. We use QB desktop as well. Are there any big technological hurdles in porting this feature over to QB desktop once QB Online integration goes live?
Adam Barry
Greg Servage: I don't believe Quickbooks Desktop offers the same API access as their online product. Most likely we'll need to build an export feature specifically for Quickbooks desktop to create a file that can be imported into Quickbooks manually.

Adam Barry: Any estimate on when Quickbooks Desktop integration might be available? We joined Tithe.ly two years ago and were really excited about this feature. It's been a long wait though.

John Pleasnick
Adam Barry: Totally understand and would be happy with an import option. It might be worth looking into the Quickbooks Web Connector though as Abacus.com and others utilize it to offer sync'ing with Quickbooks Desktop presently.
Adam Barry
Greg Servage: QB Desktop does not offer APIs for integrations. The best we could do is a Quickbooks export for desktop users. If this is something you're interested in, I recommend creating a separate feature request for a Quickbooks export with details around what you would like to see in the export.
Adam Barry
Admin Highland Meadows Church: An integration with the desktop software of Quickbooks is not possible. The best we can do is generate an export file that you could import into it. If this is something you'd like, please make a separate feature request for a Quickbooks Desktop Export.

Adam Barry: Could you ask your developers to look at 'Autofy'? https://www.rightnetworks.com/who-we-serve/software-companies/
They offer an API for Quickbooks Desktop and support JSON as a data source, so should be relatively painless to implement. They are even recommended on Intuit's website. https://developer.intuit.com/app/developer/qbdesktop/docs/get-started/get-started-with-quickbooks-web-connector#alternative-option-to-qb-web-connector
There are MANY SaaS companies who use them to provide sync integration with QB Desktop. It simply isn't true to say that Quickbooks Desktop integration isn't possible. If you guys choose not to implement it, that's your choice (and many of us will be sad), but it is possible, even with an Intuit API lacking.
